Health is Wealth Peace of Mind is Happiness Yoga Shows the Way
Yoga is best known as a set of physical practices that include gentle stretches, breathing techniques, and progressive deep relaxation. These physical practices are intended to ready the body and mind for meditation as well as for a meditative perspective on life.
Yoga is an applied science of the mind and body. It comes originally from the Hindu Vedas (scriptures). Practice and study of yoga help to cultivate a natural balance of body and mind in which the state of good health can manifest itself. Yoga itself does not create health; rather, it creates an internal environment that allows the individual to come to his own state of dynamic balance, or health.
Basically, yoga teaches that a healthy person is a harmoniously
integrated unit of body, mind and spirit.
As we reclaim our breath and lengthen the spine we allow a more open
flow of life force into all parts of the body, improving circulation
and cleansing toxins. Yoga is a proven and effective stress management tool that fuels positive thought patterns and teaches deep relaxation techniques, essential for the demands of our modern lifestyles. It helps us find our true self again, as we achieve and maintain physical health, clarity of mind and a deep sense of joy. When one practices Yoga, the Asanas (postures) become the foundation and catalyst for embodiment through Sadhana (spiritual practice).
Beginners The first and most important aspect of yoga is complete self-acceptance; to accurately assess where to begin and to maintain this respect through life’s ebb and flow. From here we set in motion the process of loving ourselves, with this love we slowly open on all levels, one Asana (posture) at a time.
Traditions At Baja Wellness, we are connected with a network of local yoga teachers who are all certified through different lineages of study such as Hatha Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Power Yoga and Prana Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Private classes may also incorporate different traditions to adapt the practice to individual needs, body types, energy levels and personal goals.
Breath Breath is the essence and foundation of a well rounded yoga practice, therefore, regardless of where you are at today, conscious breathing will not only improve your health but becomes the anchor from which we maintain awareness in and out of any movement or posture. Allowing the breath to initiate movement focuses your awareness inward and helps you to identify your specific needs as you care for yourself.
